Download Process during Staging

For the staging of installation data, the following requirements must be met simultaneously:

  • A staging mode has been set for the respective package (Staging mode is not set to 'No staging'; staging is used by default for HTTP depots and SMB depots without using hard links).
  • There is a connection to the depot
  • Sufficient storage space must be available in the repository cache

The DSM Client automatically determines the depot from which it can take the download.

The download of installation data continues after an interruption (user logging off, server connection interrupted, etc.) if ...

  • the depot is available again
  • another depot is available with the same installation data (which will be used again)

Installation data is downloaded "bandwidth-saving" in the background.
In contrast, the DSM Client only uses maximum bandwidth in the following cases:

  • The Emergency Rollout setting is used.
  • The computer variable Action for not downloaded packages is set to Wait by default.

Bandwidth-saving:
The detailed settings of the bandwidth control are specified in the Staging section of the configuration table.
Any specific bandwidth that has been specified there will be considered when specifying the "greatest" possible bandwidth.
