Special Features of Remote or Offline Operation

Staging features significant improvements particularly in relation to offline or remote computers:

  • Staging refers to downloading installation data at reduced bandwidth. You can set staging for individual packages (default setting).
Staging presents an easy and secure means of providing data to remote clients. Large amounts of data are transferred without impairing the performance of the managed computer.
  • With its Media support property, staging allows you to define a specific approach for remote clients. The following values are available:
Medium required in remote site: Remote sites always require an installation medium.
No download in remote site: There is no download in remote sites. If there is an installation medium available, it will be used.
  • Checkpoint Restart allows it to continue interrupted downloads exactly at the point in a file where the interruption took place.
