Hardware Exchange
The Hardware Change functionality makes it easy to safely store the changed information from a hardware change (e.g. changed motherboard or network card) in the database.
To identify a computer, NetInstall uses the initial MAC address and the SMBIOS GUID.
The information on changed hardware enters the system by different means:
- The user can change the initial MAC address or SMBIOS GUID in the DSMC’s Hardware Change Wizard,
- and the changes are automatically transferred to the Business Logic Server during client synchronization.
The system moves the properties required for determining the hardware initial MAC address and SMBIOS GUID from the Computer Property group to the Basic Inventory Property group where they can be changed.
NetInstall ensures that the respective information is passed on via the Business Logic Server to the OSD Proxy and to the last reported server and/or that the cache data on the last reported server is updated.
Please ensure that the hardware components are compatible.
Dynamic groups and software packages with installation requirements on server side which are using the initial MAC address are migrated automatically and can continue to be used.
