Intel vPro Support
Intel vPro allows for remotely accessing and managing client computers independently of their operating system or power state. Using Intel vPro requires setting up a vPro environment in your organization and preconfiguring the vPro client computers. To enable Intel vPro support in Ivanti DSM, you have to specify the Intel vPro authentication method and the individual client computer's vPro properties.
How to configure DSM to automatically support Intel vPro:
- Choose the Intel vPro tasks › Configure Intel vPro authentication task from the ORG-object's context menu in the Organization Tree.
- Specify authentication method (credentials or TLS certificate) valid for all computers of the DSM organization tree.
- Option: Scan client computers for Intel vPro support automatically by assigning the Scan Intel vPro package to the Managed Users & Computers system container.
How to configure vPro authentication manually:
- Select a container object (domain, OU, group) from the Organization Tree.
- Configure vPro authentication manually via the container object's Configuration tab.
Depending on your Intel vPro configuration, enter user name and password or certificate to the appropriate DSM variables.
How to configure your client computer's vPro properties:
- Select a computer object from the Organization Tree.
- From its context menu, choose the Intel vPro Tasks› Configure Intel vPro task.
You may configure a computer's vPro properties only if the Scan Intel vPro package has detected its vPro functionality before. If not, the Configure Intel vPro tasks will not be shown in the computer's context menu. If your computers are not managed by DSM, you will have to manually configure the Intel vPro properties, because the Scan Intel vPro package requires the DSM Client to be installed. You cannot configure virtual machines or computers with an AMD or Phoenix BIOS for Intel vPro support.
