UNC names

Use a UNC (Universal Naming Convention) name instead of a drive specification. By entering the server and resource directly, you can reduce the number of drive specifications. UNC names are normally used only with LAN Manager, LAN Server and in NT Server environments.

A UNC name has the format \\server\sharename.
