Barcode scanner
Asset Manager supports the use of Android-based barcode scanners to discover hardware assets. The scanner must have the Ivanti Asset Manager app installed, which is available from the Google Play Store here. Use this app when scanning assets into the Asset Manager database for the first time.
The barcode scanner identifies assets by scanning barcodes that contain the asset tag. A record of the scan is added to the Scan Log workspace, as well as the Hardware Assets workspace > Scan Log tab of the asset record.
To use the barcode scanner with Asset Manager, you must be assigned the Asset Scanner role.
Note that the Asset Manager app does not work on Android-based mobile devices, only on dedicated Android-based barcode scanners. The app's forms are designed to work best with scanner screens of a certain size—two scanner devices that Ivanti recommends are here and here.
You can open earlier scans from the list of scans if they exist. If you're an Asset Administrator, you can also delete scans.
1.Open the Asset Manager app on your Android barcode scanner. Enter your Tenant URL, then tap Continue.
2.Log in to an account with the Asset Scanner role. The scan log screen displays, showing a list of earlier scans if they exist.
3.Tap New Scan.
4.Tap the Scan button on the barcode scanner and scan the barcode. The Asset Tag field populates with the number from the barcode.
5.Tap Lookup. If a matching asset tag is found in the Hardware Assets workspace, the screen is populated with those values for that asset. If no match is made, the screen does not change.
6.Complete the fields on the scan screen as required, then tap Save. Existing asset records are updated with the new values in both the app and the Hardware Assets workspace. For new assets, a record is created and saved in those same locations.
A record of the scan is added to the Scan Log workspace, as well as the Hardware Assets workspace > Scan Log tab of the asset record.
7.Tap List View to return to the scan log screen.
