Import Building Blocks

Item

Explanation and Tips

Services

  • If a Building Block contains services, any objects that are crucial to the functioning of these services are also imported, regardless of whether you select them.

Overwrite existing items

Overwrite any existing items with the data of the Building Block.

  • If related items do not exist in your environment, they are created with the data of the Building Block.

Create new items

Create new items if items or related items with the same name at the same level already exist in the receiving environment.

  • New items get a unique number between brackets behind the name. This doesn't apply to subitems, because subitems with the same name may exist in other organizational elements (e.g. the subitem Marketing may exist in the organizational elements New York and New York (1)).

Evaluate step-by-step with the option to map to existing objects

Map global attributes, people attributes, people identifiers and smart rules to existing objects (provided the Building Block contains these objects).

  • You can only map objects of the same type (e.g. text to text).
  • Mapping configurations are prefilled in the wizard based on name. For example, if the Building Block contains a person attribute Firstname and this object also exists in the target environment, the wizard prefills the mapping with this object.

Enable transactions for imported services

Enable transactions for services immediately. This option is only relevant if you import Building Blocks that contain services.

  • This selects the option Enable transactions on the Properties tab of each service.
  • If you clear the option, the option Enable transactions is also cleared. This disables the service; it doesn't become available in the Web Portal.
  • If you import a Building Block that includes global attributes, but whose values have been excluded, a message is shown that the Building Block does not contain any global attribute values.
