Viewing Details of Linux Packages

From the Linux patches tab on the middle pane of the Machine View or from either the Linux Patch Group or the Linux Patch Group Editor dialog, you can click View packages to display more information about the packages associated with an advisory.

For a specific advisory applying to a specific machine, the metadata from the contentless Linux engine reports all the packages already installed on the machine that are related to that advisory. All required packages will be listed. However, there could be other optional packages (for example, debug versions, symbols, localizations, etc) that could also apply to this advisory that are not installed on that machine and so are not reported.

This means that if another machine that already has any of these optional packages installed on it is scanned by the contentless agent, these packages will be included in the results. This will make it look like the same advisory requires different packages depending on which machine you viewed it from.
