Summary: An overview of how to update any aspect of a user widget
If you have the ability to create a user widget, you can also modify its settings. All user widgets except those based on the Patches page allow editing.
To edit a user widget, open up the 3-dot menu and choose the Edit in… option.
You can also choose to edit a widget from the widget gallery.
The Edit in… option takes you to a simplified version of the list view. From this screen, you can add or remove a Group By, change the columns and sort, and modify the filters. You can also apply Quick Filters, saved views, and system views.
To save your changes, click Save at the upper right.
When you click Save, you first have a chance to review your changes. The Edit Widget dialogue allows you to update the title, description, widget labels, and default number of rows. You can also share or unshare the widget.
To confirm your changes, click Save within the Edit Widget dialogue. Your changes will immediately take effect on every custom dashboard that references the widget. Any time a user adds the widget to the dashboard, the new instance will have all your changes as well.
If you have shared your widget, other users who have added this widget to their dashboards will see the changes. Note that another user can modify the title, description, and number of rows for a single instance of the widget on their custom dashboard. When you use this feature, you will override any custom configurations on that single instance of the widget.
Exiting the Edit Widget Screen
If you want to quit, you can click either the X on the upper left or on DISCARD CHANGES on the upper right. Both options close the Edit Widget screen and return you to your last viewed dashboard.
Editing Someone Else’s Widgets
To create or modify your own widgets, you need the IAM privilege Widget Modify. To edit another user’s widgets, you need the IAM privilege Widget Control.
