LANDesk system management actions
These actions let you incorporate LANDesk Management Suite's system management functionality with Asset Lifecycle Manager.
LANDesk system management actions are described below.
NOTE: For all LDMS actions, Core credential set is a required value, and should be the first attribute you fill in. If you select a field to set up the integration with an LDMS core, make sure the field is mapped to a Listener value that matches the Display name you provided for the LDMS core in the Asset Lifecycle Manager database utility.
Add/delete device
This action lets you add or delete devices. When the action occurs in the course of a process, the designated devices are added/deleted from the inventory of the LANDesk Management Suite core server.
- Core credential set: (Advanced) The display name of the core server (for LDMS integration information, see Using third-party connectors with Asset Lifecycle Manager).
- Name: (Advanced) The name of the action.
- Add or delete: (Advanced) Specifies whether to add or delete the device.
- Asset tag: (Advanced) The asset tag of the device.
- Device name: (Advanced) The device to add or delete (see Inserting fields).
- IP address: (Advanced) The IP address of the device to add or delete (see Inserting fields).
- IP name: (Advanced) The fully-qualified domain name of the device to delete, such as
computer.landesk.com (see Inserting fields).
- MAC address: (Advanced) The MAC address of the device.
Add/remove from scheduled task
This action lets you add or remove a device to or from an existing scheduled task. When the action occurs in the course of a process, the designated scheduled task is updated to include the device specified here.
- Core credential set: (Advanced) The display name of the core server (for LDMS integration information, see Using third-party connectors with Asset Lifecycle Manager).
- Name: (Advanced) The name of the action.
- Add or remove: (Advanced) Whether to add the device or remove it from the scheduled task.
- Task ID: (Advanced) The ID assigned to the selected LANDesk distribution task.
- Device name: (Advanced) The device to add to the scheduled task (see Inserting fields).
- Query name: (Advanced) The Management Suite query that targets the devices you want.
- Target option: (Advanced) Select whether to target a query or a device. If you choose Target the specified device, make sure you provide a Device name. If you choose Target the specified query, make sure you provide a Query name.
Delete scheduled task
This action lets you delete an existing scheduled task.
- Core credential set: (Advanced) The display name of the core server (for LDMS integration information, see Using third-party connectors with Asset Lifecycle Manager).
- Name: (Advanced) The name of the action.
- Task ID: (Advanced) The ID assigned to the selected LANDesk distribution task.
Deploy agent to unmanaged device
This action lets you deploy agents to unmanaged devices. When the action occurs in the course of a process, a scheduled task is created in LANDesk Management Suite and run in order to deploy the agent configuration package to one or more unmanaged devices.
- Core credential set: (Advanced) The display name of the core server (for LDMS integration information, see Using third-party connectors with Asset Lifecycle Manager).
- Name: (Advanced) The name of the action.
- Client configuration package: (Advanced) The client configuration package to deploy to the unmanaged device.
- Distribution task name: (Advanced) The name assigned to the distribution task in Management Suite (see Assigning a distribution task).
- Unmanaged node's ID: (Advanced) The unmanaged device (see Inserting fields). This is usually provided by the event listener.
Reschedule task
This action lets you reschedule a task. When the action occurs in the course of a process, a scheduled task is created in LANDesk Management Suite and executed.
- Core credential set: (Advanced) The display name of the core server (for LDMS integration information, see Using third-party connectors with Asset Lifecycle Manager).
- Name: (Advanced) The name of the action.
- Success criteria: (Advanced) The percentage of devices that have to perform the rescheduled task in order for the action to be successful.
- Task ID: (Advanced) The task to reschedule and execute (see Inserting fields).
Schedule distribution
This action lets you schedule the distribution of a package. When the action occurs in the course of a process, a scheduled task is created in LANDesk Management Suite and the package is distributed.
- Core credential set: (Advanced) The display name of the core server (for LDMS integration information, see Using third-party connectors with Asset Lifecycle Manager).
- Name: (Advanced) The name of the action.
- Delivery method: (Advanced) The delivery method to use to distribute the package (see Inserting fields).
- Distribution task name: (Advanced) The name assigned to the scheduled task in LDMS.
- Package: (Advanced) The package to distribute (see Inserting fields).
- Start options: (Advanced) Whether to start the task now or leave the task unscheduled.
- Device name: (Advanced) The device to receive the package distribution (see Inserting fields).
- Query name: (Advanced) A query used to return the devices to receive the distribution package (see Inserting fields).
- Success criteria: (Advanced) The percentage of devices that have to complete the task in order for the action to be successful.
- Target option: (Advanced) Checkbox to indicate whether to target a device or a query.
Schedule provisioning template
This action lets you initiate a task based on a LANDesk Provisioning template. When the action occurs in the course of a process, the specified LANDesk Provisioning Template task is executed.
- Core credential set: (Advanced) The display name of the core server (for LDMS integration information, see Using third-party connectors with Asset Lifecycle Manager).
- Name: (Advanced) The name of the action.
- Distribution task name: (Advanced) The name assigned to the scheduled task in Management Suite.
- Delivery method: (Advanced) The delivery method to use to distribute the template (see Inserting fields).
- Scheduled task name: (Advanced) The name assigned to the scheduled task in LDMS.
- Start options: (Advanced) Whether to start the task now or leave the task unscheduled.
- Template ID: (Advanced) The LANDesk provisioning template ID.
- Template name: (Advanced) The template name you want to schedule.
- Device name: (Advanced) The device to execute the script on (see Inserting fields).
- Query name: (Advanced) A query used to return the devices to execute the script on (see Inserting fields).
- Success criteria: (Advanced) The percentage of devices that have to complete the task in order for the action to be successful.
- Target option: (Advanced) Checkbox to indicate whether to target a device or a query.
Schedule script
This action lets you schedule a LANDesk Management Suite script. When the action occurs in the course of a process, a scheduled task is created in Management Suite and the script is executed.
- Core credential set: (Advanced) The display name of the core server (for LDMS integration information, see Using third-party connectors with Asset Lifecycle Manager).
- Name: (Advanced) The name of the action.
- Distribution task name: (Advanced) The name assigned to the scheduled task in Management Suite.
- Script details: (Advanced) The details to modify in the script before it is run (see Inserting a scheduled script).
- Script name: (Advanced) The script to execute. The
script name must match an existing script on the LANDesk Management Suite core server (see Inserting fields).
- Script type: (Advanced) Specifies whether to execute an existing script or the script where some of the details have been modified, such as values, fields, or a combination of the two.
- Start options: (Advanced) Whether to start the task now or leave the task unscheduled.
- Device name: (Advanced) The device to execute the script on (see Inserting fields).
- Query name: (Advanced) A query used to return the devices to execute the script on (see Inserting fields).
- Success criteria: (Advanced) The percentage of devices that have to complete the task in order for the action to be successful.
- Target option: (Advanced) Checkbox to indicate whether to target a device or a query.
Set machine data
This action lets you set the machine data for devices. These attributes are inserted into the database and expand the inventory information for all devices. When the action occurs in the course of a process, it causes LANDesk Management Suite to set the machine data, which adds the designated attributes to the inventory of the LANDesk Management Suite core server.
- Core credential set: (Advanced) The display name of the core server (for LDMS integration information, see Using third-party connectors with Asset Lifecycle Manager).
- Name: (Advanced) The name of the action.
- Attribute Value: (Advanced) Inserts any proper value for the LANDesk inventory key. The
proper value is dependent on the type of key. A string key is any string value including special characters. An integer key is any whole number. A date key is any recognized date format like mm/dd/yy or mm/dd/yyyy
hh:mm:ss (see Inserting fields).
- Device Name: (Advanced) The device to have the machine data set on (see Inserting fields).
- Fully qualified attribute: (Advanced) Must be a full LANDesk BNF string, such as
"Computer"."LANDesk Management"."Workflow_Key"
(see Inserting fields).
