Saving the RSS Feed

You can generate two types of RSS feeds using the TPS RSS Feed Generator – an RGC file, which enables you to access the live query results, and an XML file, which generates a current result when you save the file. The XML information is not live – you have to generate the XML each time you want to refresh the information.

To save the RSS Feed as an RGC file:
  1. After you have set up the RSS Feed, on the File menu, click Save.
    The Save As dialog appears.
  2. Navigate to the Framework folder.

By default, this folder is \Program Files (x86)\LANDesk\Framework.

  1. Type a name for the RGC file, then click Save.
To generate an XML file:
  1. After you have set up the RSS Feed, on the File menu, click Generate XML.
    The Save As dialog appears.
  2. Navigate to where you want to save the file, then type a name, then click Save.

We recommend that you save the XML file in a web site folder or the Framework folder.

The RSS Feed generates an XML file containing the current query output information.

Alternatively, you can use a command prompt to automatically generate the RGC and XML files from a batch file, according to a schedule that you set up.

To generate the RGC file and XML files from a command prompt:
  1. Create a .BAT file that runs rssgeneratorconsole.exe.
  2. The file must contain the following usage information:
rssgenerator.exe [Config File Name] [Output file name] [User Name] [Password]
