Desktop Manager connectors

You can use the connectors described in the Desktop Manager guide to provide integrations other than just with your Desktop Management systems. The most common use for these connections is to integrate with your Desktop Management system (such as Ivanti Endpoint Manager). These integrations enable you to run commands such as remote control, inventory scan, remote execute, reboot, file transfer, deploy software, deploy patch, and vulnerability scan on the computer associated with the incident that you are working on.

However, you also can configure a Desktop Manager connector to send parameters read from your database to any application or web site. When you have configured a connector in this way, it appears as a right-click menu item that gives easy access to the external application and automatically passes it the data that you want to use with it.

For example, you could:

  • pass text taken from an incident's title or description to a web browser and use Google, MSDN, or a similar search tool to search for helpful information
  • pass a user's Skype ID to Skype and contact them with a single mouse-click
  • pass a computer ID to ping to test its connectivity
