Device, Network, and App threats for iOS clients

When MobileIron Threat Defense is enabled, client devices detect and list Important and Critical device, network, and application threats, and enable device users to take action. In the Mobile@Work for iOS Home page, device users are alerted if MTD detects any of the following threats:

Device Threats

None – No device threats found

Tapping on Device Threats opens the Device Threats Details page where the following details are provided:

  • Vulnerable iOS Version – If a vulnerable iOS version is found, an alert message states "This iOS version can expose the device to known vulnerabilities. It is advised to update your operating system immediately."

  • Risky Profile – If a risky profile is found, an alert message states: "This profile could be used to monitor and manipulate user activities or hijack a users traffic. It is advised to remove it from general device settings. Device Management." This applies to untrusted and suspicious profile threats.

  • Screen Lock – If screen lock is disabled, an alert message states: "Data on the device could be exposed to attackers if your device is stolen or compromised. It is advised to create a security passcode immediately from device settings."

  • Device Jailbroken – If the device operating system has been compromised ("jailbroken"), an alert message displays.

Network Threats

None – No network threats found

<network threats found> – The number of network threats

Tapping on Network Threats opens the Device Threats Details page where the following information is provided:

  • Risky Wi-Fi – Displays the name of the risky Wi-Fi network, with the following message: "Your data can be stolen and your device can be compromised. It is recommended that you disconnect from this Wi-Fi network immediately or turn off Wi-Fi on your device."

App Threats

None – No app threats found

<app threats found> – The number of app threats

Tapping on App Threats opens the App Threats Details page where the following information is provided:

Suspicious or Out-of-Compliance Apps – Either "No suspicious apps found" or a list of suspicious apps displays. If MTD detects a suspicious or out-of-compliance app, users will see an Uninstall option with the following alert message:"These apps can compromise the security of your device and steal data. It is highly recommended to uninstall them."
