New Features Summary

  • Device admin (DA) mode of managing Android devices is being deprecated in a phased manner from Cloud 78 onwards: Any new users with a new tenant created on Cloud 78 will not be able to register any devices (Android 6 and later) in DA mode. Any new tenants that need to enable DA registration for Android 6 to Android 9 must contact Ivanti Support. Android 10 and later devices will continue to be blocked from registering to DA mode.

For existing users (with or without existing DA deployments), there are no changes in terms of managing the existing DA devices (Android 6 to Android 11). However, on upgrading to Cloud 78, any newly registered devices running Android 10+ on existing tenants will also not be allowed to run in DA mode. Such existing tenants would only be able to enroll devices from Android 6 to Android 9 versions in DA mode.

If any users are planning to migrate DA devices from a Core instance to the Cloud R78, ensure that Android Enterprise is enabled and at least one system configuration is distributed to the target set: PO before triggering the migration. This step is essential to prevent the devices from retiring post- migration.

  • Support for device migration irrespective of the client application version: Starting from release 12, irrespective of whether the Mobile@Work client that is registered in the device supports migration or not-the device can be migrated. For devices that have unsupported Client versions and are migrated to Cloud, the device will be marked as Client Unmigratable in the LUI portal to indicate the unsuccessful migration to the administrator. The administrator can mark the Client Unmigratable devices as Resolved.

  • Support to update device migration status to Resolved: Starting this release, if a device is marked in one of the following states, the administrator now has the option to mark the device to Resolved and specify the reason.

NOTE: If you set the status of a device to Resolved state, the state is irreversible.
    • FAILED

    • REQ_RE_ISSUE_ID_CERT

    • MI_CLIENT_STARTED

    • CLIENT_UNMIGRATABLE

  • Support for Migration Portal certificate expiry notification: You can now specify email addresses under the core instance section to send email notifications that indicate the expiry date of the Migration Portal certificate. The notification is triggered 15 days prior to the expiration of the certificate and is also triggered if the certificate has already expired.

  • Capability for administrator to cancel user controlled migration and send notifications: If a user controlled migration is triggered or scheduled, the administrator has the capability to cancel the migration of devices that have not yet begun migration. While canceling the migration of the devices, the administrator also has the option to send an email or push notification to the devices.
