Retrieving EID for eSIM
The Embedded Identity Document (EID) is a 32-digit unique serial number embedded in your device's hardware that identifies the eSIM chip on eSIM enabled Android devices.
The administrators must obtain the unique EID serial number of each device and share it with the mobile network carrier to enable a subscription on the device.
Before you begin
-
The device must be operating on Android version 13 and above as approved by Ivanti EPMM.
-
The device must be in Active state in Ivanti EPMM.
-
The device user must install Ivanti Mobile@Work for Android R12.8.0.0 or above as approved by Ivanti EPMM.
Procedure
- In Ivanti EPMM, go to Devices & Users > Devices.
- Select the list of Android devices for which you need to retrieve the EID.
-
Navigate to Actions > Android Only > Request EID (13+).
A new Request EID (13+) pane appears that displays the list of selected devices.
-
Click Request EID.
The Ivanti EPMM can intelligently filter the non-eligible devices. For example, if you select iOS or iPadOS devices, Ivanti EPMM will display error messages for each device stating that the devices are non-Android.
- A Device EID Request is sent to the devices.
- For Android devices operating on PO and EPO modes, the user must click CONTINUE and select SHARE on the device.
-
(Optional) The user can access the Ivanti Self Service Portal to request the EID by navigating to Devices > menu option > Request EID.
The administrator must assign Request EID role to the user.
-
(Optional) The administrator can use the Advanced Search option to filter the valid devices or bulk export the eligible devices using the following example criteria:
"common.platform" = "Android" AND "android.eid_result_status" = "succeeded" AND "android.eids" != "unknown"
- (Optional) Select the Export to CSV to view the list of devices with EIDs that can be shared with the mobile network carrier.
