Mobile Threat Defense features, enhancements, and issues in Cloud 78

Each version of the Mobile Threat Defense (MTD) solution guide contains all MTD features that are currently fully tested and available for use on both server and client environments. Because of the gap between server and client releases, MTD releases new versions of the MTD guide as the features become fully available.

The following features, enhancements, and issues are a part of Mobile Threat Defense Solution for Cloud 78.

General MTD features and enhancements

The following MTD general features, issues, and enhancements are available in this release:

  • Anti-phishing status available on the Dashboard: New options allow you to create and display a pie, graph, or bar chart of anti-phishing status on your Dashboard. Only four fields are needed: Name, Data category (Devices), Display by (Phishing protection), and Filter by (select filters, if any). For more information, see "Dashboards" in the Cloud Administrator Guide.

Features and enhancements for Android devices

The following MTD features, issues, and enhancements are available for Android, Android Enterprise, and Samsung Knox devices in this release:

  • MTD supports Zimperium SDK 4.14.7 and zIPS: MTD now supports Zimperium SDK 4.14.7, which, when enabled through Ivanti support, allows an MTD administrator to push Zimperium zIPS anti-phishing capability to the personal side of an Android Enterprise-managed device with Go client for Android in the work profile. To enable this feature, follow these steps:

    1. From the Cloud server, distribute the Google Play Go client to devices.
    2. Update the following app restrictions of Go Client:
      1. Enable the share_activation_data field.
      2. Enter com.zimperium.zips in the Activation Package app restriction field.

For more information on this feature, speak to your MTD representative.

  • Enhanced app threat local actions available for Samsung Knox devices: For application threats, Go client administrators now have access to additional local compliance actions such as Block app, Uninstall app, Disable app, or Isolate app, for selected Android Knox devices.

Selecting a Knox local action in addition to mobile device management (MDM) local actions provides additional remediation capabilities for application threats for Samsung Android devices. The new Knox local action mitigations are available for the identified devices through the MDM server. To enable this feature, contact Ivanti support.

For a complete list of supported devices, application information, and important notes, see Additional app threat local actions for Samsung Knox devices.

MTD resolved issues

This release includes the following resolved issues:

  • AIOS-5290: There was an issue where the MTD console was erroneously listing iPad Pro 12.9 inch 5th generation devices running iOS release 14.6 as having a System Tampering threat. This issue has been fixed. These devices now display correctly in the MTD console.

  • AW-55159: There was an issue following Go client re-installation and device re-enrollment, where the MTD configuration was pushed to Go clients with an incorrect device globally unique identifier (GUID). This issue is fixed. The MTD configuration is pushed to Go clients with the correct device GUID.
