Adding Cloud as your MDM server in MTD console

You must add Cloud as your Mobile Device Management (MDM) server in MTD management console to enable Mobile Threat Defense. After entering Cloud details such as the URL and administrator user name and password, MTD console synchronizes with Cloud. You can select the Cloud custom attributes you want to use in MTD console. The relevant users, devices, and apps from Cloud are shown in the MTD console.

Warning! Do not select any option that overwrites the password for your Cloud users.

Before you begin

Procedure

  1. Log in to your MTD console with the credentials provided by Ivanti. The username and password defined for the MTD admin are required to establish communication with Cloud and synchronize the two servers.

  2. Navigate to Manage > Integrations > Add MDM.

  3. Select Cloud to add it to the MTD console as an MDM server.

  4. Enter the following required information:

    Item

    Description

    URL

Enter the FQDN or externally accessible URL for your Cloud in secure hypertext protocol (HTTPS). For example: https://na2.mobileiron.com

    Username/Password

Enter an administrator username and password for Cloud. The admin user should be assigned several roles, including API, as described in Creating the MTD API user and assigning roles.

    MDM Name

Enter a name for your Cloud.

    Background sync

Select to synchronize users between Cloud and MTD console.

  5. Click Next.

  6. In the last window, select the Cloud custom attributes you want to use as MTD console groups. The list of MTD console groups is arranged in order of priority. Move a group name up or down to change its priority.

MTD recommends you create any new custom attributes in the admin console before synchronizing the MTD console with Cloud, otherwise the custom attributes will not show up when this step is performed.

  7. Click Finish.

  8. Synchronize the MTD console with Cloud. Make sure the synchronization is successful.

Whenever MDM information is removed from the MTD console, be sure to manually disable or remove the MTD Activation configuration from Cloud.
