Upgrading Ivanti Secure Access Client
The software image for each supported Ivanti server includes a Ivanti Secure Access Client software package. When a newer version of Ivanti Secure Access Client is available, you can upload the new software to the Ivanti server. You can have more than one version of Ivanti Secure Access Client on a Ivanti server but only one Ivanti Secure Access Client package can be active. If you activate a new version of Ivanti Secure Access Client, and if the Ivanti server’s automatic upgrade option is enabled, connected Ivanti Secure Access Clients display an upgrade prompt to the user. The user can choose to install the upgrade or cancel the operation. If a user cancels, the upgrade prompt appears each time the client connects to the server. During a Ivanti Secure Access Client software upgrade the client machine loses connectivity temporarily.
The automatic update feature is supported on Ivanti Connect Secure and Ivanti Policy Secure servers only.
If you configure Ivanti Secure Access Client to make 802.1X based connections, a reboot might be required on Windows endpoints when Ivanti Secure Access Client is upgraded.
After you have staged the new Ivanti Secure Access Client software package in a location accessible to the Ivanti server, use the following procedure to upload the software to the Ivanti server:
- In the device administrator console, select Users > Ivanti Secure Access Client> Components.
- In the section labeled “Manage Ivanti Secure Access Client Versions”, click Browse, and then select the software package.
- Click Upload.
Only one Ivanti Secure Access Client package can be active at a time. After you upload a new package, you need to enable it.
To enable a Ivanti Secure Access Client package as the default:
- In the admin console, select Users > Ivanti Secure Access Client > Components.
- In the section labeled "Manage Ivanti Secure Access Client Versions", select the radio button next to a version, and then click Activate.
