Prerequisites

Ivanti supports use of the Traffic Manager software installed on compatible hardware appliances. To view the current reference hardware specifications, see the "Ivanti vTM Hardware Compatibility List" on the Pulse Community Web site (https://community.pulsesecure.net/t5/Pulse-vADC-Updates/Pulse-Secure-vTM-Hardware-Compatibility-List/ba-p/34012).

To install the Traffic Manager on your appliance, first create a suitable installation medium containing the necessary files. Ivanti supports use of a CD-ROM/DVD-ROM or USB memory drive for this purpose.

Ivanti additionally supports deployment of the Traffic Manager through a Preboot Execution Environment (PXE). For further information on PXE and compatibility with your server appliance, refer to your hardware supplier.

Before you begin the installation of the Traffic Manager appliance image, make sure you have the version appropriate to your deployment type, and suitable license keys for each Traffic Manager instance you want to install.

To configure the Traffic Manager software, make sure that you have the following information:

Hostnames for each of the appliance instances that you are creating.

IP addresses for each of the interfaces that you intend to use on an appliance.

Subnet masks for each of the IP addresses you are using.

The domain name to which your appliances belong (optional)

The IP address for the default gateway.

The IP address for each name server that the appliance uses to resolve your internal network addresses (optional).

The DNS search path (the "local part" of your machine hostnames) (optional). This item is commonly the same as the domain name.

An Admin password for the Admin UI.

You administer all Traffic Manager variants through a Web-enabled user interface. The Traffic Manager supports the following browsers for this purpose:

Internet Explorer: v.11 or newer

Microsoft Edge: latest version

Mozilla Firefox: latest version

Apple Safari: latest version

Google Chrome: latest version

Ivanti does not warrant the use of browser versions older than those listed here due to potential discontinuation of security updates by the vendor.

Ivanti recommends using one or more test servers (for example, Web servers) to which you can direct traffic.
