Upgrading to Workspace Control

This section guides you through the necessary steps to upgrade from RES Workspace Manager to Ivanti Workspace Control.

Use the Ivanti Workspace Control Installer to upgrade your environment to Workspace Control. This installation package contains all necessary MSI files (both 32-bit and 64-bit), wrapped up into one executable. When running the installer on the target computer, select what components to upgrade or install, and then the installation wizard of the selected components guides you through the process.

Ivanti recommends a DTAP-street (Development, Testing, Acceptance, and Production) to allow a phased introduction of Workspace Control into production.

To keep your Workspace Control environment up to date, install the latest Workspace Control Upgrade Packs. This requires Solution Assurance — a service that you can buy from Ivanti. When upgrading the system using the attended upgrade file, ensure that the session is not a Workspace managed session. Otherwise pfwsmgr.exe and other files can be locked from being upgraded.
