Known Workspace Control limitations for Microsoft Windows and Windows Server

The following known limitations apply to Workspace Control on machines running Microsoft Windows or Windows Server operating systems.

Universal apps with User Settings

Universal Windows Platform (UWP) applications (such as Microsoft Edge) interact differently with the operating system. This affects Workspace Control User Settings, leading to unexpected behavior for UWP applications.

Windows Shell shortcut creation set to Replace all unmanaged shortcuts

The Windows default tile layout is used in user Workspace Control sessions when the following settings are configured in the Workspace Control Console under Composition > Applications > Settings tab:

  • Option Windows Shell shortcut creation is set to Replace all unmanaged shortcuts, and option Replace all unmanaged tiles on start screen is checked.

  • No tiles are configured for managed applications in the Workspace Control environment.

This limitation applies only to Windows 10.

Changing Windows Shell shortcut creation settings

In the Workspace Control Console, under Composition > Applications > Settings tab, when changing the configuration of the Windows Shell shortcut creation option, unmanaged application tiles from previous Workspace Control sessions may not be restored at next logon.

This limitation applies only to Windows 10.

Alt + Tab with Ivanti VDX Integration

In the Workspace Control Console, under Setup > Integration > Ivanti Products > VDX > Settings tab, when the VDX integration is enabled and option Windows keys passthrough is checked, the Alt + Tab key combination does not function.

This limitation applies only to Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2.
