Installing Other VDX Components
This section covers how to install the following VDX components:

The VDX Admin Pack is an optional extension to VDX. It contains all necessary files to manage VDX settings and licensing, including sample configuration files for extended configuration.
The Admin Pack can be installed on any machine in the network. However, it is usually installed on the administrator's workstation.
The VDX Admin Pack includes:
- VDX Editor — a desktop application used to manage VDX settings.
- VDX Licensing Console — a desktop application used to manage VDX Licensing.
Use the Ivanti VDX Installer to install the Admin Pack.

If installing VDX Admin Pack on a different machine than where the Ivanti VDX Installer is used, follow these steps:
- Run the Ivanti VDX Installer.
- On the welcome screen, click Next.
- Select the option Extract all components and then click Next.
- Select the destination where to extract the VDX components and then click Finish.
- Once the extraction is completed, click Close to exit the Installer.
- Open the folder where the VDX components were extracted and copy the Ivanti-VDX-Admin Pack.msi installation file to the other machine,
- Run the MSI file and follow the installation wizard prompts to install VDX Admin Pack.
After installation of the VDX Admin Pack, the VDX Editor and the VDX Licensing Console are available in the Start Menu.

The VDX Engine must be installed on the server or virtual machine that hosts the remote sessions.
Use the Ivanti VDX Installer to install the VDX Engine.

If installing VDX Engine on a different machine than where the Ivanti VDX Installer is used, follow these steps:
- Run the Ivanti VDX Installer.
- On the welcome screen, click Next.
- Select the option Extract all components and then click Next.
- Select the destination where to extract the VDX components and then click Finish.
- Once the extraction is completed, click Close to exit the Installer.
- Open the folder where the VDX components were extracted and copy the appropriate installation file to the other machine:
- For 32-bit computers, use Ivanti-VDX-Engine(x86).msi.
- For 64-bit computers, use Ivanti-VDX-Engine(x64).msi.
- Run the MSI file and follow the installation wizard prompts to install VDX Engine.
-
The VDX Engine is initiated automatically every time a session to a remote machine starts.
-
There is no need to configure additional ports for the VDX Engine as it communicates over the same port as the protocol's virtual channel (i.e. RDP, ICA, PCoPI or Blast Extreme).

The VDX Plugin must be installed on all local VDX Clients.
To install the VDX Plugin, follow these steps:
- Run the Ivanti VDX Installer.
- On the welcome screen, click Next.
- Select the option Extract all components and then click Next.
- Select the destination where to extract the VDX components and then click Finish.
- Once the extraction is completed, click Close to exit the Installer.
- Open the folder where the VDX components were extracted and copy the appropriate installation file to the VDX Client machines:
- For 32-bit computers, use Ivanti-VDX-Plugin(x86).msi.
- For 64-bit computers, use Ivanti-VDX-Plugin(x64).msi.
- Run the MSI file and follow the installation wizard prompts to install VDX Plugin.
-
The VDX Plugin is initiated automatically every time a session to a remote machine starts.
-
There is no need to configure additional ports for the VDX Plugin as it communicates over the same port as the protocol's virtual channel (i.e. RDP, ICA, PCoPI or Blast Extreme).
-
A VDX license is claimed on the endpoint where the VDX Plugin is installed. The VDX Engine claims the license from the VDX license server and passes it over to the VDX Plugin, which stores the license in %programdata%\Ivanti\VDX\LSCache.bin. The VDX Plugin claims the license for 45 days and it renews it every time it contacts the VDX license server.
-
If reinstalling the Citrix Client on a machine, the VDX Plugin must be re-installed as well by right-clicking on the VDX Plugin MSI file and then selecting the Repair option. If this is not done after (re)installing the Citrix Client, the connection between the VDX Plugin and the VDX Engine is not established.
