After completing the licensing setup process, licenses are manageable from the Licensing Console, which is available from the Start Menu.
The Licenses tab gives an overview of VDX licenses and it can be used to add or delete licenses.
At startup, the VDX Licensing Console starts looking for a licensing service automatically. First, it searches for a VDX Licensing Service on the local machine. If none is found, then it sends a multicast message to find a VDX Licensing Service on the network. If multiple VDX Licensing Service hosts are found, the Select Licensing Service Host window opens.
If necessary, to manually connect to a different VDX Licensing Service, click Connect. The Select Licensing Service Host window opens. Select the desired VDX Licensing Service from the list and then click OK.
To add, register or activate VDX licenses, click License Wizard. For more details, see License Wizard.
To view the details of a VDX production license, select it and then click View.
To delete a VDX production license, select it and then click Delete.
Only production license details can be viewed.
Only production licenses can be deleted.
VDX Client Configuration
The VDX Clients tab gives an overview of all licenses claimed by a VDX Client.
To reserve in advance a VDX license for a specific client, select a VDX Client and then click Reserve. Once a VDX license is reserved, the license remains reserved until it is released.
To release a claimed license, select a VDX Client and then click Release.
Releasing a VDX license is useful when there are insufficient available licenses. If licenses are claimed by VDX Clients not currently in use, such licenses can be released and made available for other VDX Clients that need them.
In specific situations, it is useful to change the connection settings of the VDX Licensing Service. For more details, see Changing the Connection Settings for VDX Licensing.
Such a situation can be, for example, if the VDX Licensing Service is hosted on a machine in a different network segment than the VDX Licensing Console and the VDX Clients.
