Regions group together server locations that share similar characteristics. Regions can be nested inside of other regions.
When a profile is applied to a region, it is also applied to, or inherited by, all the associated sub-locations. A user with read/write permissions for a location has the option of excluding an inherited profile for his location so it is not used, but he cannot change the priority of an inherited profile.
To create a region:
1 | From the Locations tab, click New in the Sub-locations panel. |
-Or-
Use the Location Tree to navigate to the region where you want to create the new region and click the Locations context link. In the Sub-locations panel, click New.
2 | In the New Subordinate Location dialog box, click Region. |
The New Region page appears.
3 | Type a name for the new region in the text box, and configure the latitude, longitude, and notes if desired. If you prefer to click the location on a map rather than provide the latitude and longitude coordinates, click the Use map to plot button. |
4 | Save your changes. |
