Passcodes Payload (Android/iOS)

A passcodes payload sets restrictions on the passcode that the user sets in order to access the device. Each device can only use one passcodes payload. If there is more than one passcodes payload applied to the folder the device is in, only the payload with the highest priority will be sent to the device. You can view the payloads that have been sent to the device by viewing device details.

A passcodes payload has the following options:

ClosedAndroid

Devices with this payload will force users to set a passcode by displaying the screen unlock settings screen. While users can cancel out of the screen, it will continue to reappear until a password is set.

Payload Name

The name of the payload.

Minimum length

The minimum number of characters the passcode is allowed to have.

Require alphanumeric

Only allows alphanumeric characters in the passcode. Symbols or punctuation are not allowed.

Minimum number of passcode letters

The minimum number of characters allowed in the passcode. This option is only available for devices that have Android 3.0 or newer.

Minimum number of passcode symbol letters

The minimum number of letters allowed in the passcode. This option is only available for devices that have Android 3.0 or newer.

Minimum number of passcode numeric letters

The minimum number of number characters allowed in the passcode. This option is only available for devices that have Android 3.0 or newer.

Minimum number of passcode non-letters

The minimum number of non-letter characters allowed in the passcode. This option is only available for devices that have Android 3.0 or newer.

Minimum number of passcode lower-case letters

The minimum number of lowercase letters allowed in the passcode. This option is only available for devices that have Android 3.0 or newer.

Minimum number of passcode upper-case letters

The minimum number of uppercase letters allowed in the passcode. This option is only available for devices that have Android 3.0 or newer.

Maximum failed attempts

The number of failed attempts to unlock the device before all data on the device is erased.

Screen timeout

The length of time in minutes of inactivity before the screen locks.

Activate custom Samsung SAFE timeout

Allows a value to be set in the Samsung SAFE timeout in minutes field.

Samsung SAFE timeout in minutes

The interval of time a user can postpone changing their password on a Samsung SAFE device. Once this time is elapsed, the user must set a new password.

Maximum passcode age

The length of time in days that a user can use the passcode before he is forced to choose a new one. This option is only available for devices that have Android 3.0 or newer.

Passcode History

Sets how many passcodes in a row must be unique. This prevents the user from using the same passcode too frequently.
