Adding a Software Package

Once you create and apply a software profile for AIDC devices, add the software packages to that profile. Through the software profile you can configure the software package settings, enable the package, and then deploy the packages to specific mobile devices.

The Add Device Software Wizard allows you to add packages, enable packages, copy packages that have already been added to a different profile, or create custom software packages. Before you create a custom package, ensure you know the location of all the files you want to include.

In order to use package utilities to configure a package, you must have a current JRE installed on the computer where you are using the Web Console.

The following instructions provide information about adding an Avalanche package (.ava) to a software profile. For information about building a package with .cab or .msi files, see Using CAB or MSI Packages. For information about building a new package using files with other extensions, see Building New Software Packages.

To add a software package:

1.From the Available Profiles panel on the Profiles tab, click on the software profile you want to edit.
The Software Profile Details page appears.

2.In the Software Packages panel, click New.
The Software Package Wizard appears.

3.Select Install an Avalanche package.

4.Click Select Package to browse to the location of the software package, select the file, and click Open.

5.In the Software Package Wizard, click Next.
A License Agreement appears.

6.Accept the license agreement and click Next.

7.When the package files have been saved, click Next.
The Configure Software Package page appears.

8.If desired, you can enable the package immediately.

9.Click Finish to complete the installation.

If you want to enable a software package later, navigate to the software profile page and click Disabled in the Status column for the package you want to enable.

After software packages are configured and enabled, you can deploy the software profile and the packages will be distributed to all devices in the applied folder that meet the selection criteria.

To remove a software package:

1.From the Available Profiles panel on the Profiles tab, click on the software profile you want to edit.
The Software Profile Details page appears.

2.Click Edit.

3.Select the items you want to remove in the Software Packages table.

4.Click the Delete icon.
The software packages are removed.
