Running the License Server

The License Server is a Wavelink service that runs on a host system as part of Avalanche. The License Server is responsible for supplying licenses to Avalanche device servers. The License Server is a service that starts automatically. If for some reason the License Server is not running, the device servers will not be able to receive licenses.

The Wavelink License Server listens on TCP port 7221. For the License Server to function properly, this port must be open and not blocked by a firewall.

The default installation path for the License Server is C:\Program Files\WavelinkMDM\WLLicenseService.exe.

Service Information

The Service Information section displays details about the service, including the service's host IP address, its software version, the date it started, and how long it has been active.

License Summary

The License Summary section displays details about license blocks on the server.

Product	The product that the licenses are for.
Version	The version of the licenses.
Feature	Whether the licenses are base or maintenance licenses.
Limit	The number of licenses in the license block.
Normalized	The effective number of licenses in the license block. This number can vary from the number under limit if the licenses have expired or if their start dates are in the future. The normalized number can also vary if you do not have enough base licenses for the amount of maintenance licenses that have been entered. You must have one base license for each distributed maintenance license.
Allocated	The number of licenses that have been allocated to device servers.
Available	The number of licenses available for allocation.
Start Date	The date that the licenses will become valid.
End Date	The date that the licenses will expire.
Serial	The serial number of the license block.

License Server Allocation Details

The License Server Allocation Details page displays details about each license grant that has been given to your device servers.

Requestor IP	The IP address of the device server that requested the licenses and received the license grant.
Type	The server type.
Product	The product that the licenses are for.
Version	The version of the licenses.
Feature	Whether the licenses are base or maintenance licenses.
Allocated	The number of licenses in the license grant.
Expires	The date that the license grant will expire. After the indicated date, the licenses will be returned to the License Server.
Serial	The serial number of the license grant.
Site Identifier	Identifies the server that received the license grant.
