Installing the Server on Windows

The Wavelink Avalanche 6.1 or newer installation file allows you to install the Remote Control Server as a separate or bundled component with all other Avalanche services. The Remote Control software package and Client are installed separately. You should only install Remote Control Server separate from the Avalanche Enterprise Server when you aren't installing it on the same machine.

Previous versions of Remote Control should be removed before Remote Control 6.1 is installed. If you already have Remote Control 6.1 and are upgrading to a newer version, you can perform an install over the existing application without having to remove it.

To install the Remote Control Server:

1  Obtain the Avalanche 6.1 or newer installer from Wavelink and save it on the machine where you want to install the Remote Control Server.

2  Double-click the installation file.

3  Select a language and click OK.

4  Review the Pre-Install checklist and then click Next to continue.

5  Browse to your preferred install destination directory and click Next.

6  Select New Installation as the installation type.

7  The Select Components screen appears. Click on Remote Control Server and deselect any other components you don't want to install. Click Next.

8  By default, Wavelink creates shortcuts in the Windows Start menu. Click Next to accept the shortcut, or modify it as desired and then click Next.

9  Enter your Information Router Address. This is the hostname or IP address of the machine where your Avalanche Enterprise Server is located. Once entered, click Next.

10  Click Next to begin the installation.

11  To close the installation wizard, click Finish.

If Remote Control is not installed local to the Avalanche Enterprise Server, you must configure Remote Control to access the license server. For information on configuring the Remote Control Server, see Synchronizing with the Avalanche License Server.
