Capturing screens
The screens you import to the Velocity Console must be captured from the Ivanti Velocity or Terminal Emulation Client.
The easiest method for performing a screen capture is by using Enhanced logging in the Velocity Client. For more information, see Using enhanced logging projects .
For all other methods, you need to provision the Client with a host profile, then connect to the host and record while you navigate through all the screens you want to capture. The Client saves these screen captures to a .wltsc
file which you can import into the Velocity Console.
Screen capture files vary in size depending on the number of screens captured. Generally, capture files are between 500KB (for a small number of screens) and 3MB (for thousands of screens). Make sure the device has sufficient memory before you begin a screen capture.
1.From the Console, create an enhanced logging project and enable the Screen capture option.
2.In the top right corner, click Show barcode.
3.In the Velocity Client, navigate to the profile list and tap Menu > Enhanced logging.
4.Provide the password, if required.
5.Scan the QR code with the device.
6.Tap Start enhanced logging.
7.Navigate to the screens you want to capture.
8.When you have all the screens captured, make sure the Console still has the QR code showing. Navigate to the profile list in the Client and tap Menu > Enhanced logging > Stop enhanced logging.
9.The screen capture file is transferred to the Console, and you can import the screens in to a host profile.
1.From the Velocity Console, create a host profile.
2.On the Host > Logging tab, enable the Enable Screen Capture option.
3.Deploy the host profile to a device. If you have the Client installed locally, use the Deploy locally option.
4.On the device, connect to the host. Tap Menu > Capture Screens.
-Or-
If you have the Client installed locally, you can launch it from the Console by navigating to the Screens tab and clicking the Capture Now button in the bottom left.
A red recording icon appears at the bottom of the screen while you are recording.
5.Navigate through each screen of the application. Be sure to capture any error screens or optional screens in addition to the standard process screens. The Client will only record the screens that you access.
6.To end the screen capture, tap the recording icon, or tap Menu > Capture Screens. Click Yes to confirm that you want to end the screen capture.
The screens are saved to a .wltsc
file. On an Android device, the file is saved in in the com.wavelink.velocity directory. On a Windows device, they are saved to the %Programdata%\Wavelink\Velocity directory.
If you used the Capture Now button, the screens are automatically imported into the project.
1.From the TE Client on your PC, click Term > Screen Capture.
2.A dialog box appears, asking you where the screen capture file should be saved. Select a location and click Save.
3.Press Enter to connect to the host. When connected to the host, navigate through each screen of the interface. Be sure to capture any error screens or optional screens in addition to the standard process screens. The Telnet Client will only record the screens that you access.
4.After accessing all of the screens that you want to import, click Term > Screen Capture.
The screen capture process is ended and the screens are saved to a .wltsc
file. If you don't end the screen capture in this manner, the file will be empty. Screens aren't written to the file until you tell the Client you're done recording.
Once you've captured the screens for your host profile, you can import these to the Velocity Console to create custom themes and screen element styles. For more information, see Importing screens.
