Understanding the Console

The Velocity Console is an application installed on your desktop or laptop, and is used to configure the Velocity Client. Create host profiles for different host types, import screens and edit how they appear in the Client, create and edit forms that can be used to augment your existing processes, and set up speech-to-text or text-to-speech using Ivanti Speakeasy.

Velocity has the following types of project:

A host profile with all its associated settings. Host profiles are for terminal emulation (TE) hosts, Web hosts (or web sites), or Oracle SIM hosts. For information on editing profile settings, see Configuring host profiles. A host profile must be deployed and distributed to the devices in order to be used.

A collection of global settings that can be distributed with host profile projects. A global settings project contains settings that are applied regardless of the host connection. For more information, see Using a Global Settings project. A global settings project must be deployed and distributed to the devices in order to be used.

A Scan to Config project that makes it easy to configure a Velocity Client by scanning a barcode. A Scan to Config project is used to distribute host profiles and global settings to devices. For more information, see Using a Scan to Config project.

A form project that creates a custom business process automation form to use on the Velocity Client. For more information, see Velocity Forms. A form project must be published to the Ivanti Neurons for IIoT server so that it can be used.

When you initially launch the Velocity Console application, you're given the option of creating a new project or opening a current one, if any exist. For information on creating projects, see Creating and saving a project.
