Using Native Mode

Native Mode in Velocity utilizes the traditional black-and-green screen common to terminal emulation applications.

When a host profile is created, the administrator can choose to default to Native Mode, to auto-switch to Native mode when it detects a page that won't render well, or to lock the device user into using a specific mode – either native or HTML. For more information about Native Mode options in a host profile, see Host profile settings.

If the host profile does not restrict the user from switching modes, use the following steps to disable or enable Native Mode.

To use Native Mode

1.From the Velocity client, tap the Menu button in the top-right corner of the screen.

2.Tap Turn Native Mode On.

Native Mode is enabled and the screen returns to the traditional black-and-green format without an HTML theme applied.

To disable Native Mode

1.From the Velocity client, tap the Menu button in the top-right corner of the screen.

2.Tap Turn Native Mode Off.

Native Mode is disabled and Velocity applies your HTML theme to all screens. If a screen is encountered without an HTML template, a loading animation appears above a button labeled Native Mode. To display the screen, users must tap the Native Mode button. This can be avoided from the Velocity Console by either applying a template to the screen or by enabling the Auto Switch to Native Mode option.
