Avalanche Package Builder is an application that helps you manage devices through Wavelink Avalanche, a mobile device management system. Avalanche Package Builder allows you to create your own custom Avalanche packages to install, delete, or perform actions on mobile devices running Windows Mobile or Windows CE operating systems.
To use packages that are built by Package Builder, you should have Avalanche installed and your mobile devices should have an Avalanche Enabler installed on them.
Using Package Builder, you can create packages that:
• install an application and create a shortcut for it.
• extract a .CAB file.
• edit registry entries.
• reboot the device.
• delete files on the device.
• tell the device to download or upload files.
In addition, Package Builder includes options to create selection criteria for a package. This means that the package is only distributed to devices that can and should use the package. Base selection criteria on concrete factors such as device make and model, or on custom factors such as device properties set through the Avalanche Console.
Older versions of the Avalanche Enabler and the Avalanche mobile device server may not be support all package features. For example, early versions of the Enabler did not accept packages with names that were longer than 8 characters. If a package includes features that are not compatible with the Enabler or mobile device server, it may cause unexpected results. We recommend using this version of Package Builder with Avalanche 6.0 and newer.
For examples of packages that can be built using Package Builder, see the Wavelink Community.
