New features and product updates

New base image

This release includes a new File Director base image that upgrades the File Director platform to the latest FreeBSD 14.0 operating system and updates operating system packages to the latest version. The base image supports DHCP functionality, so once powered on, it will obtain an IP address via DHCP. Set up and configure the base image through the Web Admin. Deploy the base image on ESXi versions 7.0 and above and on Hyper-V for Windows Server 2016 and above.

In order to upgrade to this release, you must deploy a new appliance using the latest base image and use the appliance backup and restore functionality to migrate you configuration settings to the new appliance.

Important install and upgrade information

There is no in-place upgrade path for customers using appliance versions 2023.3 or earlier. Customers should deploy new appliances with the 2024.1 base image. For more information, refer to File Director Upgrades in the online help.

Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022 support

File Director 2021.3 and later versions of the Windows client have been tested with both Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022. You can learn more in the Ivanti Community.
