How to Create a New Software Category or Group

To create a new software category group:

1. Right-click on the By category group folder in the panel's left pane, then select New Category Group from the context-sensitive menu.
2. In the New Software Category Group dialog box, enter a name for the group and select OK.

To create a new software category:

1. Right-click on the software category group to which you want to add the new software category, then select New Category from the context-sensitive menu.
2. In the New Software Category dialog box, enter a name for the category, then select OK. You can also change the group to which this category belongs in this dialog box by selecting another group from the list box.

To create a new software category or group:

1. Select one or more license units, right-click on your selection, then select Properties from the context-sensitive menu.
2. In the General tab of License Unit Properties dialog box, select Categories.
3. In the Software Categories dialog box, select New.
4. Select Category or Group.
5. Enter the category or group name in the dialog box that opens, and select OK.
6. Click OK twice more to exit all dialog boxes and save your changes.

To create a new software category group:

1. Click New and select Group.
2. In the New Software Category Group dialog box, enter a name for the group and select OK.

To create a new software category:

1. Click New and select Category.
   You can also select a group before you select New, to specify that the category will belong to the selected group.
2. In the New Software Category dialog box, enter a name for the category, then in the list box, select the group to which this category belongs.
3. Click OK.

After Creating a Software Category or Group Using Any Method

New groups are added, in alphabetical order, to the list of category groups in the left pane of the License Units panel. Any new categories you create are added, in alphabetical order, to the list of categories within their groups. Software categories and groups you add are also shown in the Software Categories tab of the License Unit Template dialog box.
