Virtual Machines

A virtual machine is a software-based environment that emulates a computer. Cherwell Asset Management supports virtual machines in the following ways:

• You can configure Cherwell Asset Management to discover any virtual machines hosted by VMWare and Hyper-V Servers on your network.
• During the inventory process, Cherwell Asset Management identifies any virtual machines in your network as well as the name of each virtual machine's host, if available.
• In the Machines panel, you can customize the columns to include a VM type (guest or host) and VM host name column. Virtual machine information is also available in each affected machine's Machine Summary report.
