UWM Hybrid - Configuration Management Utility

UWM Hybrid configurations can now be managed through the on-premises consoles. This allows administrators to manage configurations published to the Neurons platform, including deleting configurations, removing versions, and promoting them. This provides enhanced flexibility in configuration management and facilitates faster recovery when it is necessary to deploy a previous configuration version. The hybrid configuration management lets you configure Ivanti Neurons App Control through the on-prem console.

Integration Workflow

The following list outlines the integration workflow at a high level.

  1. Create an App Registration in Ivanti Neurons.
  2. Set up the configuration in the on-premises.
  3. Authenticate with Ivanti Neurons using an on-premises application.
  4. Save and publish the configuration to Ivanti Neurons.

For more information about the integration, refer to Integrating Application Control with Ivanti Neurons.

After a successful integration, the Hybrid mode allows Ivanti Neurons to deploy configurations created and managed in Application Control and saved in Ivanti Neurons.

Assign Configurations (Ivanti Neurons)

Once the configurations are published to Ivanti Neurons, you can select the configuration and push it through agent policy to the target endpoints across your organization. To choose the configuration, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Agent > Agent Policies.
  2. On the Agent Policies page, choose an existing policy and click Edit.
Alternatively, you can click the Create Policy option to add a new policy and assign the configuration to it. To create new policy, refer to Agent Policies.
  3. Under the Capabilities tab, select Application Control (Hybrid).
  4. Then, select a published configuration under the Configuration drop-down list.
This lists the configurations that you have created using the on-premises application.
  5. Click Save.
This applies the configurations to the endpoints via agent policy.

Managing Configurations (On-prem Console)

To manage configurations for hybrid mode, a new utility must installed, and this works with the on-prem console. This utility allows you to manage existing configurations and clean up older ones.

To download the utility, go to the Ivanti customer portal (https://portal.ivanti.com/customer/product-downloads). Then, navigate to Unified Endpoint Management > User Workspace Manager > UWM Suite > Hybrid Configuration Management Utility.

  1. Run the HybridConfigManagement.exe file.
The Ivanti Neurons Configuration Management pane displays all configurations and their versions.
  2. Login to the app using the application credentials if required.

  3. Under the Product Filter drop-down list, select an option to filter specific configurations, or leave it at the default to view all configurations.
  4. Select a configuration from the list and click the following options:
    • Delete: Click to delete one or more configuration versions from under the same configuration. Or you can delete an entire configuration, as long as it has not been assigned to a policy.

You cannot delete an assigned configuration or the latest published configuration version. Ensure to change or reassign the configurations in Ivanti Neurons before deleting. The latest version of a configuration assigned to a policy is bold.

    • Promote: Click to save the selected configuration as a new version. That promoted version will be deployed to all machines associated with the policy
