Installing Java Runtime Environment
Prior to installing the Ivanti Endpoint Security Agent, you must have Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 7 or higher.
Verify you are running Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 7 or later on your target endpoint.
- Log in to the target endpoint using the root user account.
- Open the Terminal window.
- Type java -version and press ENTER.
The Terminal window displays the installed version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). - Use the output in the Terminal window to verify that the java version is 7 or later.
- If your java version is 7 or later, your target endpoint is ready for Ivanti Endpoint Security Agent installation.
- If your java version is earlier than 7, you must update the Java Runtime Environment. Proceed to the next step.
- If Java isn't already installed, download and install the latest version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE).
- Open your Web browser and go to Java Web site for the latest version.
- Download and install the version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) that is applicable to your target environment.
Tip: The Java Web site contains instructions to complete the install of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for each applicable operating system.
The latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is installed on your target endpoint.
