Deleting Packages

Package data that is stored in the local repository cache by the DSM Client is also deleted again by the DSM Client. The DSM Client automatically decides which packages can be deleted.

Locally stored packages are deleted in two steps:

  • Packages are marked for deletion when they meet the corresponding conditions (see below).
  • Packages that are selected to be deleted are deleted permanently in intervals of 60 minutes.

Packages are selected to be deleted in the following cases:

  • The assignment (policy/policy instance) is no longer valid
  • The operating system (platform) is no longer supported
  • The decay time has run out (this is specified in the configuration table setting Grace Period Until Packages are Definitely Deleted [Days])
  • Note that the system does not check for user or computer related policies!
This prevents that one user downloads a package and one user deletes it again on the same computer.

If there is not enough disk space available for an installation, the system also deletes packages that have not been selected to be deleted automatically.
