Getting started
If you haven't already set up Ivanti Asset Manager in your environment, see Installing and deploying.
After you finish that process, complete the following two tasks:
•First, import your data into the product. There are several methods for doing this. To find the best one for your situation, see Data import.
•Next, you'll want to read about how employees are organized in the system, and then assign user roles to them. Roles define a person's responsibilities while working within the product and determine the workspaces that user has access to. For details, see Employees, departments, teams, and contact groups and User roles.
Asset Manager is similar to the related product Ivanti Service Manager, upon which it runs. The products share many of the same workspaces. If you have experience using Service Manager, you'll find that this product is very familiar.
Next steps
Once the above tasks are completed, you can begin exploring the user interface. Start with the following topics to gain an understanding of the workspaces you'll use the most:
•Dashboards – A number of dashboards are available to the different user roles as starting points to understanding the viewable data. Read about each dashboard, as well as the user roles that have access to them.
•Hardware assets – The Hardware Assets workspace provides access to all your asset records. Learn about the asset details you can view from this workspace and how to manage those records.
•Software assets – The Software Assets workspace provides access to the software asset records in your environment. With Asset Manager Cloud, you can import records for licensable software into this workspace.
You can also use Asset Manager to manage asset procurement, vendors, contracts, and inventory; set up an online Product Catalog for your organization; and so on. To find out more these tasks and others, use the left navigation pane to view topics of interest. Also use keywords in the Search box at the top of this page to find specific information.
