Software prerequisites
Before you upgrade to Ivanti Identity Director 2022.4, please make sure to meet the prerequisites listed below.
If you are upgrading from Identity Director 2019 or earlier, additional measures may need to be taken before your upgrade. Please see Upgrading from Identity Director 10, 2018 or 2019.
For supported versions of Windows for the Setup and Sync Tool, Transaction Engine and Windows Client, please see Supported operating systems.
Additionally, the following software is required for these Identity Director components:
- Windows Installer 3.1
- .NET Framework 4.8 or higher
- Database client for the type of database used for the Datastore (Setup and Sync Tool, Transaction Engine)
If the required .NET Framework version is not yet installed, Identity Director will install it for you.
Please note, that the machine has to reboot after this installation.
For supported versions of Windows for the Management Portal, Web Portal and Mobile Gateway, please see Supported operating systems.
Additionally, the following software is required for these Identity Director components:
- .NET Framework 4.8 or higher
- IIS 7.0 or higher
- PowerShell 4.0 or higher
- Administrator permissions
If the required .NET Framework version is not yet installed, Identity Director will install it for you.
Please note, that the machine has to reboot after this installation.
Web Portal only:
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributables. These packages are available as x64 and x86 version. The Web Portal requires the installation of both. You can download them at
If you do not install these packages prior to the installation of the Web Portal, the installer downloads and installs them during installation. This means that if you perform an offline installation of the Web Portal, their installation fails. Among other things, this impacts the branding preview of the Web Portal in the Management Portal.

- Common HTTP Features
- Management Tools
- IIS Management Console

Identity Director is built on ASP.NET MVC 4.
As of Identity Director 2020.1, support for Oracle and DB2 Datastores has been deprecated. If your Identity Director environment uses a Datastore on one of those platforms, please migrate it to a supported platform before upgrading to Identity Director 2022.
