OEM Configurations

Use OEM configurations to gain access to device management settings that are not available through typical software management, such as manufacturer specific device settings and functions. OEM configurations are created with Android Enterprise managed configurations; however, their settings are generally global devices settings, as opposed to the application specific settings usually configured with managed configurations.

OEM configurations are enabled through manufacturer specific applications. OEM configuration apps are not shipped with devices, and must be installed from the Play Store. Use Avalanche software payloads and managed configurations to configure and push OEM configuration apps to devices.

Check the OEM configuration app's information on the Play Store to see which OS versions and device models are supported. OS version support varies by manufacturer.

OEM configurations require devices to be enrolled as fully managed Android Enterprise devices. For information about fully managed Android Enterprise devices, see Fully Managed Mode.

To create an OEM configuration

1.In your enterprise managed Play Store, search for and approve an OEMconfig app. OEMconfig apps are manufacturer specific.

2.In the Avalanche console, create a new Android Enterprise software payload.

3.Select the OEMconfig app you approved.

4.Click Configure.

5.Click Create new.

6.Configure any settings you would like applied to your devices. The available settings are determined by the manufacturer.

7.In the Managed Configuration panel, click Save.

8.Select your configuration from the Configuration drop-down menu.

9.Click Select Configuration.

10.Save the payload.

For more information about creating and configuring software payloads, see Software Payload.

To push an OEM configuration to a device

1.Create a smart device profile that contains your OEM configuration software payload. To avoid priority conflicts, we recommend only having one OEM configuration software payload in a profile. For information about creating a profile, see Managing Smart Device Profiles.

2.Apply your OEM configuration profile to folders or regions. When applying the profile, define selection criteria for which devices should receive the profile. For information about selection criteria, see Using Selection Criteria.

3.Enroll devices as fully managed devices. For information about fully managed enrollment, see Fully Managed Mode.

When a device is enrolled and placed in a folder with a profile containing an OEM configuration, if it meets the selection criteria, it will receive the profile and be configured without any further interaction.
