Installing Splashtop Components

Avalanche integrates with Splashtop Smart Device Remote Control, so you can view and control any connected Android device from the Avalanche Console. Splashtop is comprised of four components that must be set up respectively to facilitate remote sessions between a PC and Android devices. To use Splashtop Smart Device Remote Control with Android devices, install and set up the Smart Device Remote Control Gateway (also called the Splashtop Center) and the Smart Device Remote Control Desktop Viewer on an administrator PC, and the Android platform and streamer on the target devices.

For more information about Splashtop, see the Splashtop documentation.

You can now add and invite users to enroll with the Splashtop streamer application.

Remote Control Desktop Viewer

The Splashtop Enterprise app for Windows makes it possible for administrators to connect their Windows PC to the target Android devices remotely.

To set up the Remote Control Desktop Viewer

1.Download the Desktop Viewer from the Wavelink download site.

2.Launch the installer.

3.Follow the prompts from the installation wizard to complete installation.

4. After the app has finished installing, you will receive an invitation email which contains an auto-launcher link. Open the auto-launcher link on the target device.

5.Enter the server address, email address, and password needed to log in.

Once the Desktop Viewer is installed and you have logged in, a list of devices appear that you can initiate a remote connection with.

Splashtop Android Platform and Streamer

The Splashtop Android streamer provides a video and audio connection to the administrator’s computer or device (usually a PC). The Android platform and streamer need to be installed on all target Android devices to perform remote sessions. The platform must be installed before the streamer.

To set up the Remote Control Android Platform and Streamer

1.Download the Android platform and streamer for your Android devices from the Wavelink download site. The platform and streamer are device specific.

2.In Avalanche, create software payloads for the platform services and streamers. When creating the payload for the streamer, select the Launch on installation option. For information about software payloads, see Software Payload.

3.Use smart device profiles to distribute the platform service software payloads to devices.

It is important that the platform service is installed on the device before the streamer.

4.Use smart device profiles to distribute the streamer software payloads to devices.

Your devices are ready to log into the service and begin using remote control. For information about logging in and initiating a remote control session, see Remote Control for Android Devices.
