Passcodes Payload (Android/iOS)

A passcodes payload specifies requirements for the passcode that the user sets in order to access the device. If there is more than one passcodes payload applied to the folder a device is in, only the payload with the highest priority will be sent to the device. You can view the payloads that have been sent to the device by viewing the device details.

Devices with this payload will force users to set a passcode by displaying the screen unlock settings screen. While users can cancel out of the screen, it will continue to reappear until a password is set.

A passcodes payload has the following options:

ClosedAndroid

Payload Name

The name of the payload.

Device Settings / Work Profile Settings

Displays the settings for either the device or the Android Enterprise work profile.

Minimum length

The minimum number of characters the passcode is allowed to have.

Maximum failed attempts

The number of failed attempts to unlock the device before all data on the device is erased.

Maximum passcode age

The length of time in days that a user can use the passcode before he is forced to choose a new one.

Passcode History

Sets how many passcodes in a row must be unique. This prevents the user from using the same passcode too frequently.

Screen timeout

The length of time in minutes of inactivity before the screen locks.

Require alphanumeric

Only allows alphanumeric characters in the passcode. Symbols or punctuation are not allowed.

Minimum number of alpha characters

The minimum number of letters allowed in the passcode.

Minimum number of numeric characters

The minimum number of number characters allowed in the passcode.

Minimum number of symbol characters

The minimum number of symbol characters allowed in the passcode.

Minimum number of password lower-case characters

The minimum number of lowercase letters allowed in the passcode.

Minimum number of password upper-case characters

The minimum number of uppercase letters allowed in the passcode.

If you have enrolled an Android Enterprise with Avalanche, you can create a separate set of passcode requirements for the work profile. If the device's work profile passcode does not meet the requirements, work profile apps will be inaccessible. After the device is locked, the user will be required to enter the work profile passcode the next time they access an app in the work profile. If the One-Lock option is enabled in the device's security settings, the most secure requirements from the device settings and the work profile settings will be combined and used for the entire device.
