Enabling SSL

When you use Studio, by default it connects to the server using Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), which is not encrypted. If you want your information to be encrypted, you can configured Studio to use HTTPS with an SSL certificate instead.

Prior to setting up your Studio server for SSL encryption, you must first create a self-signed SSL certificate or submit a Certificate Signing Request to a Certificate Authority. To create a certificate, see Generating an SSL Certificate.

To enable SSL:

1  Navigate to [Studio Install location]\bin\.

2  Open studiossl.properties with a text editor, like Notepad.

3  Enter a value for SSLSupportKeystorePassword, SSLSupportKeystoreType, and SSLSupportKeystorePath.

4  Save the file.

5  From your computer desktop, click Start and navigate to the Studio application folder.

6  Click Stop Server and then Start Server to reboot the server with the changes.

After rebooting the server, update the Studio Client with a new Host Profile. See the Creating an SSL Host Profile section within Creating a Host Profile for instructions on setting up a software payload for SSL.
