Configuring Host Profiles
A host profile defines the settings that the Velocity Client should use when it attempts to initiate a connection with a specific host. The host profile may include the emulation type, IP address of the host, or other settings. You may configure an unlimited number of host profiles from the device or through the Velocity Console.
When a device user attempts to initiate a session with a host, the Velocity Client displays a list of available host profiles. The user selects the host he wants to connect to, and the Velocity Client uses the host profile settings to connect to the host.
Depending on the emulation type, different options are available when configuring a host profile. The following options are available when you configure a host profile in the Velocity Client:

The name of the host profile.

| Address |
The IP address or host name of the host system to which the mobile device will connect.
|
| Port |
The TCP port number on which the host system is listening for emulation requests from Clients. By default, the port is set to 23. When Use SSH or Use SSH Tunnel is selected, the default port is changed to 22.
|
| Type |
The emulation type that the mobile device uses when connected to the host system.
|
| Safe Mode |
Determines if the Velocity Client will automatically display screens in Safe Mode when a user connects to this host profile. If this option is not selected, devices will automatically display with Safe Mode disabled when a user connects. |
| Enable Logging |
Allows the Velocity Client to log in-app activity for use in support troubleshooting. |
| Log File Max Size |
Sets the maximum allowed file size for logging. By default, this is set to 1024. If a maximum size is not specified, the file continues to grow. |
| Auto Carriage Return |
Automatically applies the Enter function after a menu option is selected from the Velocity Client.

Name
|
The user name prompt that the host system uses. To prompt a user for a specific user name, you can use a variable delineated by a %. For example:
%Gun Number%
The text included within the % indicators is the information that appears in the prompt on the device. In the above example, the prompt would ask the user for "Gun Number" as their user name.

The response that the mobile device should send to the login prompt. Possible Values: 0 - 60 alpha-numeric characters.

Password
|
The password prompt that the host system uses. To accept a variable value, you can use a value delineated by a % after enabling the Use prompt scheme when editing the host profile in Velocity or through the Velocity Console. For example:
%Store Number%
In the above example, the prompt on the device would ask the user for a "Store Number" as their password.

The password that the mobile device should send to the host system at the password prompt. Possible Values: 0 - 60 alpha-numeric characters.

Command
|
The command prompt that the host system sends to the Velocity Client after the login is complete.

The command that the mobile device should send the host system at the command prompt. Possible Values: 0 - 60 alpha-numeric characters.

Authorization
| License Server Address |
The IP address or host name of the licensing server. If the devices are on the same local network as the licensing server, the address does not need to be specified as the Client will actively broadcast and find the server.

| License Server Port |
The TCP port number on which the License Server is listening for license requests from Clients. By default, the port is set to 1820. This field cannot be set until a License Server Address is specified.

| License Server Site ID |
The site ID associated with the License Server. This field cannot be set until a License Server Address is specified.

SSH Settings
| Use SSH |
Uses SSH to encrypt the information sent to the host. There is no additional software for SSH on the device, but the host must be configured for SSH. When this option is selected, the Auto Login User and Auto Login Password fields appear and must be filled out and the Port field is changed to 22.
This setting requires a public key to authenticate against the SSH server. The public key can only be associated with a host profile from the Velocity Console application.
You can only select this option or Use SSH Tunnel, but not both.

| Use SSH Tunnel |
Sets whether or not to use SSH tunneling. If you are using 5250 emulation with SSH, you must use SSH tunneling. When this option is selected, the Auto Login User, Auto Login Password, Tunnel Address, and Tunnel Port fields appear below and the Port field is changed to 22.
This setting requires a public key to authenticate against the SSH server. The public key can only be associated with a host profile from the Velocity Console application.
You can only select this option or Use SSH, but not both.

| Auto Login User |
The username for accessing the SSH server.
This option is only available when Use SSH or Use SSH Tunnel is selected.
|
| Auto Login Password |
The password associated with the SSH username.
This option is only available when Use SSH or Use SSH Tunnel is selected.

| Tunnel Address |
The IP address or host name for the SSH tunnel.
This option is only available when Use SSH Tunnel is selected.

| Tunnel Port |
The TCP port number associated with the Tunnel Address for SSH tunneling.
This option is only available when Use SSH Tunnel is selected.

SSL Settings
| Use SSL |
Uses SSL to encrypt the information sent to the host. There is no additional software for SSH on the device, but the host must be configured for SSL. When this option is selected, the Port field is changed to 992.
This option cannot be enabled if Only Use ConnectPro connections is selected.

ConnectPro Settings

Indicates whether the Velocity Client should only connect to the host through a ConnectPro server. If you enable this checkbox, you cannot select the Use SSL setting in the SSL Settings section.

The version number of the ConnectPro server.
|
| Address |
The IP address or host name of the server. To prompt a device user for all or part of the address, use a variable delineated by %. Variables can be used in DNS names or IP addresses. For example:
192.168.42.%Store Number%
The text that is inside the % indicators is the information that appears in the prompt on the device. In the above example, the prompt on the device would ask the user for "Store Number." If the user provides the store number 123, the Client attempts to connect to 192.168.42.123.

| Port |
The TCP port number on which the proxy server is listening for emulation requests from clients.
|
| Terminate ConnectPro Session |
Indicates when the ConnectPro server should terminate the connection to the host.
Possible values include:
• Never. The proxy server never terminates the session established with the host. The Client is responsible for manually terminating the session.
• OnNetworkError. The proxy server terminates the session with the host when a network error occurs, such as a loss of network connectivity.
• OnSessionExit. The proxy server terminates the session with the host when the session is terminated by the Velocity Client. By default, this option is selected.
• Always. The proxy server will terminate the session with the host on a network error or when the session is terminated.

| Client Reconnects if Unexpectedly Disconnected |
Specifies if the Velocity Client will attempt to reconnect if the session with the proxy server is lost and the Client has not received a disconnect message from the proxy server. By default, this is set to Yes.

| Reconnect String |
Specifies the reconnect string that the Smart device should use when connecting to the host. Alternately, you may configure reconnect strings in ConnectPro.

| Use SSL/TLS Encryption |
Uses SSL/TLS to encrypt the information sent to the host. There is no additional software for SSL/TLS on Smart devices, but the host must be configured for SSL/TLS.

| Use Custom Encryption |
Uses a Wavelink custom encryption method to encrypt the connection to the ConnectPro server. When you use custom encryption, provide an encryption key in the Key field below.

To add a host profile:
1 Tap the Add button in the top-right corner of the screen.
2 Configure the host profile as desired.
3 Tap the Back button on your device
4 Tap Yes on the Confirm Changes dialog to save the host profile.
5 Tap the host profile from the Host Profiles screen to connect.
To edit a host profile:
1 From the Host Profiles screen, tap and hold a host profile.
The Modify Host Profile dialog appears.
2 Tap Edit.
3 If a password is required, type the password in the text box and tap OK. (The default password is system.)
4 Edit the host profile as desired.
5 Tap the Back button on your device to save the changes.
6 Tap the host profile from the Host Profiles screen to connect.
To delete a host profile:
1 From the Host Profiles screen, tap and hold a host profile.
2 If a password is required, type the password in the text box and tap OK. The default password is system.
The Modify Host Profile dialog appears.
3 Tap Delete.
The host profile is deleted.
