Host Profile Settings

The settings on the Host > Host Profile tab depend on the project type and emulation type. Not all features are available for all project types.

Profile Name	The name of the host profile.
Host Address	The IP address or host name of the host system to which the mobile device will connect.
Port	The TCP port number on which the host system is listening for emulation requests from Clients. By default, the port is set to 23. When Use SSH or Use SSH Tunnel is selected, the default port is changed to 22.
Emulation Type	The emulation type that the mobile device uses when connected to the host system.
Server Language	Allows the Client to interpret international characters from a specific codepage. The default for this setting is 37 IBM EBCDIC for 5250/3270 emulations and DEC VT (this option is not located on the drop-down) for VT emulations.
Display Language	For VT emulation, when the Server Language is set to UTF-8 Unicode, the display codepage should also be specified.
Launch on Startup	When the Velocity Client launches, it automatically connects to the host profile. When this option is set in multiple host profiles, the Velocity Client will launch the sessions (in alphabetical order) until it reaches the maximum number of concurrent sessions. VT Answer Back	Displays a string on the device when it receives an ENQ from the host. It supports the following variables: •%m - %r Represents the six octets of the MAC address. For example, use `%m%n%o%p%q%r` to contain the full MAC address as a response to an ENQ. •%a - %d Represents the four octets of the IP address. •%s Represents the session number. •%t Represents the terminal ID of the mobile device. •\## Represents a hex character value. This option is only available to VT emulation types.
Workstation ID/LU Name	An ID for mobile devices connecting to an IBM host. The ID may include static characters and the following switches, which are used to capture dynamic data specific to each mobile device. It supports the following variables: •%a - %d. Represents specific octets of the IP address of the mobile device. For example, use %a%b%c%d to capture all four IP octets of the address of the mobile device, or use %d to capture only the last octet of the IP address of the mobile device. •%m - %r. Represents specific octets of the MAC address of the mobile device. For example, use %p%q%r to capture the last three octets of the MAC address of the mobile device. •%s. Represents the session number. •%t. Represents the terminal ID of the mobile device. A workstation ID can be 1-20 alphanumeric characters plus switches, but IBM hosts usually truncate workstation IDs that are more than 10 characters. The workstation ID should not begin with a numeric character. This option is only available to IBM emulation types.
Retry Workstation ID	Allows the Velocity Client to retry the workstation ID with a letter appended to it.
Field Forward Command	Defines the key code to execute when a device user taps a field after the active field. The client calculates the total number of forward commands needed to reach that field, and then performs the action. The host receives and interprets the commands and returns the desired action. This function is only available for VT100, VT220, and XTERM emulation types. If this field is left blank, users cannot navigate forward to new fields by touch. However, physical or software keyboards still allow tabbing forward. By default, this is set to {TAB}. If you wish to change this value, your host must support the new command.
Field Back Command	Defines the key code to execute when a device user taps a field before the current field. The client calculates the total number of back commands needed to reach that field, and then performs the action. The host receives and interprets the commands and returns the desired action. This function is only available for VT100, VT220, and XTERM emulation types. When a back command is executed from the last field, it does not cause a field submit to the host. By default, this is blank. If you do not enter a field back command, then the forward command will be used to cycle forward through the fields. If you wish to add a key code here, your host must support this function.
Default Native Mode	Forces the Velocity Client to display screens in Native Mode (black-and-green screen) when you connect to the host profile. If this option is not selected, the Client's HTML rendering engine is used to update the appearance of screens.
Allow User to Switch Modes	Allows the user to voluntarily switch between Native mode and Modern mode. When this is disabled, the user cannot choose which mode to use.
Auto Switch to Native Mode	Determines if the Velocity Client will automatically display screens without an HTML template in Native Mode. When enabled, all screens encountered without an HTML template will display in the traditional black-and-green screen. When disabled, these same screens display a loading animation and a Native Mode button. In this instance, the screen will not display until Native Mode is selected, or the user goes back a screen.
Disable Predictive Formatting	Disables all predictive screens so that they do not appear on the Velocity Client. Any screen labeled as "Predictive" on the Screens tab cannot be used on the Client. Only screens that have been edited and are labeled as "Template" are usable at the device level. For more information about predictive versus template screens, see Editing Screen Elements. Predictive formatting should only be disabled if you have made manual changes to each screen. If a screen is unedited and displays as "Predictive" from the Screens tab, then the screen will not load at the device level and only displays a wait screen. No inputs are allowed on these screens.
Auto Carriage Return	In Modern mode, automatically sends an Enter or Send keypress after a menu option is selected from the Velocity Client. For example, if your app requires someone to select an item by pressing 2 + Enter, this makes the menu button send 2 + Enter. When this option is turned off, the menu button just sends 2.
Hide Close Session	In the Client menu, hides the X that allows the user to disconnect the session.
Disable Pinch and Zoom	Disables the ability for device users to zoom in or out on a screen. This ensures device users don't accidentally zoom in on screens while performing manual tasks. Users may still touch the screen to select fields or use software keyboards. Legacy projects created before v1.2.104 are defaulted to No.
Enable Fixed Screen Mode	Affixes the screen view on the client to the top-left corner of the native screen. Scrolling becomes disabled and you cannot pan or zoom on a screen. This option is only available to TE hosts.
Enable Logging	Enables the creation of a log file on devices using this project on the Velocity Client. The logging file allows for more in-depth troubleshooting by Ivanti support personnel. This file is stored on the device in the com.wavelink.velocity folder.
Log File Max Size (kB)	The maximum allowable size for the log file before the oldest entries are automatically removed. This cannot be altered unless Enable Logging is set to Yes. By default, this is set to 1024 kilobytes.
Hardware Back Button Command	The hex code value for a back button key on a menu. You can specify multiple back buttons for a host profile, separated by a comma. If left blank, the Back button on a device will do nothing. For a list of accepted values, see Keyboard Codes and Commands.
Menu Up Command	The hex code value for a menu up key. On the device toolbar, this appears to the left or right of the keyboard button. When the button is pushed, the defined key code is sent to the host. If left empty, this button does not appear when a menu is displayed. For a list of accepted values, see Keyboard Codes and Commands.
Menu Down Command	The hex code value for a menu down key. On the device toolbar, this appears to the left or right of the keyboard button. When the button is pushed, the defined key code is sent to the host. If left empty, this button does not appear when a menu is displayed. Screen Rotation	Specifies which screen orientations are supported on the device. Possible values include: •Lock Portrait •Lock Landscape •Dynamic
Keyboard Transparency	Enables the use of transparent keyboards for both native and modern screens. After enabling the setting, enter a transparency level between 0-100, with 100 being complete transparency and 0 equating to no transparency, which will also disable the option. When a software keyboard is displayed while connected to the host, it will appear at the set transparency level. Transparent screens will overlay the current screen, rather than displace it. To navigate a screen covered by the keyboard, you'll need to hide the keyboard.
Keyboard Height	Defines how much of the screen a keyboard occupies when displaying. This value is defined as a percentage of the screen's vertical space for both portrait or landscape viewing modes. By default, keyboards are set to use 45 percent of the screen. A keyboard also occupies 100 percent of the screen's horizontal space and cannot be altered.
Keyboard Visibility	Sets the behavior of the keyboard pop-up globally. This setting can be overridden at the field level if you have edited screen elements. •Show. The keyboard automatically appears for all screens and fields. •Hide. If the keyboard is active, it automatically hides for all screens and fields. •Disable. Both custom and default keyboards cannot be used for any screens or fields.
Telnet Negotiation	Specifies the Telnet negotiation string that the Client should use when connecting to the host. This field accepts alphanumeric values up to 20 characters in length. This field can be used with SSH security activated. This option is only available when VT100, VT220, or XTERM emulation types are selected. If this field is left blank, the emulation type is sent.

Web

Profile Name	The name of the host profile.
Host Address	The IP address or host name of the host system to which the mobile device will connect. The address must include the http:// application protocol.
Hardware Back Button Command	The hex code value for a back button key on a menu. You can specify multiple back buttons for a host profile, separated by a comma. If left blank, the Back button on a device will do nothing. For a list of accepted values, see Keyboard Codes and Commands.

Keyboard Height	Defines how much of the screen a keyboard occupies when displaying. This value is defined as a percentage of the screen's vertical space for both portrait or landscape viewing modes. By default, keyboards are set to use 45 percent of the screen. A keyboard also occupies 100 percent of the screen's horizontal space and cannot be altered. By default, a keyboard stays hidden until a user launches it.
Clear Cache (On Connect)	Clears all cached session objects from all sessions—including active sessions—when a new session is started.
Clear Cookies (On Connect)	Clears all cookie data stored for all sessions—including active sessions—when a new session is started. Even if another host profile is set to not clear cookies, any profiles with this option active will override.
Default Zoom Level	Sets the zoom level the Web page is displayed at. By default, 100% is set, which fits the page to the screen.
User Agent String	Replaces the User Agent String provided by the browser with custom data. By default, the user agent string identifies the browser version and the operating system. Type in the user agent string you want the Velocity Client to use, or use the following variables to include device-specific information as part of the user agent string. •ESN •IMEI •MAC •IP •Model •Manufacturer To request these data types, you must input them in variable format. For example: Ivanti (%ESN%-%MAC%-%IP%-%MODEL%-%MANUFACTURER%) You can set data types to detect and insert colons (:) by inserting the symbol into the variable. For example: Ivanti (%MAC:%) Devices connecting to the host profile will return all of the device details requested for the string above. If any of your variables inject content such as punctuation into the user agent string, you must enclose the variable with parentheses () like those found in the example above; otherwise, this functionality may not work properly.
