Creating a Custom Skin

You can create a custom skin for any desired mobile device.

To create a custom skin:

1  Create a subdirectory in <installpath>\WinEmulator\skins\. Name the directory the way you want the skin to appear when you select a skin from the menu in the Studio Client.

2  Create a bitmap for the skin (using a .bmp file extension) and place it in this directory. The bitmap image must contain a blank area to represent the display screen of the mobile device.

3  In the config.xml file, set the value of the skinImage attribute to the name of the new bitmap. Do not include the path to the file.

4  In the config.xml file, set values for the following attributes to represent the screen size of the mobile device:

displayPosX

displayPosY

displayHeight

displayWidth

We recommend that you set these values to exactly match the screen dimensions on the mobile device for which you are testing the application. For more information on changing settings in the config.xml file, see Elements of the Skin Configuration File.

5  Modify other parameters in the configuration file as needed. See Mapping Keys for a Skin to create custom keypad mapping for the new skin.
