Using the Client

Once the Velocity Client has been installed, the Velocity app will appear in the list of installed apps. To launch the Client, tap the Velocity icon. The Velocity Client works with a device's built-in camera. When you scan data, it appears in the currently-selected field. You can perform the following most-common actions with the Client:

To connect to a host, select a host profile when you first launch the Velocity Client. To create a new host profile, see Configuring Host Profiles.

To access the main menu, tap the Menu button in the bottom-right corner of the screen. You must be connected to a host to access the menu.

To begin another session when you already have a session open, tap the Menu button. When the menu appears, tap Add Host Profile to connect to another host. You can only connect to a maximum of four sessions at once. If you are connecting to a Web session, you may only have one active session at a time.

To switch to another connected session, tap the Menu button, and then tap the name of the host you want to work in. The active session appears.

To disconnect a host session, tap the Menu button. Then tap the X next to the name of the session you want to disconnect from.

To exit the Client, disconnect any current sessions and then tap the Menu button. When the menu appears, tap Exit.

To launch a keyboard on a screen, tap the keyboard button at the bottom of the screen. This loads the default or a custom keyboard, depending on if custom keyboards are associated with a host profile.

To switch between multiple custom keyboards, swipe left or right across the keyboard to cycle through other custom keyboards. This functionality only works if custom keyboards created with Velocity Console are associated with the host profile.

To pair a Bluetooth or NFC headset, turn the device into discovery mode. This typically involves pushing and holding the power button down until it starts blinking. From the Velocity Client, you should then navigate to Menu > Pair My Headset > Browse. The list of discovered devices appears here. If the device has a barcode, you can also pair headsets using this by navigating to Menu > Pair My Headset > Scan Barcode.

To perform a voice calibration, navigate to Menu > Quick Calibration. The calibration begins, regardless of whether a headset is associated.

DataWedge

DataWedge is an application used on a Smart device to send scanned data to the Velocity Client. If Data Scanning is enabled for a host profile from the Velocity Console, a profile called Velocity is automatically created in DataWedge. This profile is used by default, unless manually changed.

When using DataWedge, the following behaviors may occur with the Velocity Client:

If Data Scanning is not enabled for your host profile, no Velocity DataWedge profile is created at the device level and the default profile is used instead. However, if a Velocity profile already exists at the device level, it will continue to be used.

If you use the default DataWedge profile, typically profile0 or Velocity, with the Keystroke section enabled and no keyboard data returns after performing a scan, you must enable the Intent section of the profile.
