Preparing a USB flash drive for installation

The M2250, M2600, and M2700 appliances do not have a DVD drive. Therefore, use of a DVD with these appliances is not supported. Installing the Ivanti EPMM ISO on these appliances is done from a USB flash drive.

USB flash drives are only supported on M2250, M2600, and M2700 appliances.

Before you begin 

Ensure that the USB flash drive meets the following minimum requirements:

  • USB Standard 2 or 3
  • USB Connector Type-A

Procedure 

The USB flash drive preparation steps vary somewhat between Ivanti EPMM 11.3.1.0 and older releases from Ivanti EPMM 11.4.0.0 - 11.12.0.0 and newer releases. Follow the steps for your release:

Insert a USB flash drive into a Windows PC.
Use a USB flash drive with a minimum of 2 GB storage space.

Download the Ivanti EPMM ISO image to the same PC from the Ivanti EPMM Support site.

Download a third-party tool to the same PC to create a bootable USB flash drive.
Ivanti EPMM uses the tool Rufus for creating bootable USB drives, which can be downloaded here: https://rufus.akeo.ie/.

Run the tool and provide the following information when asked in the tool wizard:

  • Location of the ISO.
  • Location of the USB flash drive.
  • Volume label name for the USB flash drive.
    You must use MOBILEIRON as the volume label name.

  • Leave the Volume label empty, as shown below:

Select:

  • Partition Scheme: MBR and
  • Target System: BIOS or UEFI

For File System, select FAT32. For File System, select FAT32.

Complete the wizard to create a bootable USB flash drive.

  1. Click Start.

  2. ISO Hybrid image detected popup menu displays.

  3. Select Write in DD image mode, as shown below:

  4. Click OK. Allow the Wizard to complete the bootable USB drive.

Continue to Installing the Ivanti EPMM ISO image on M2250 and M2600 appliances for installation instructions.

When requested during the installation, select
hw-m2250-m2600-usb-install
.

Once the bootable USB drive is complete, continue to Mounting and installing the Ivanti EPMM ISO image on an M2700 appliance for installation instructions.

When requested during the installation, select
Install Ivanti EPMM 11.4.0.0-xx from USB
.

Installation of Enterprise Connector on M2250, M2600, and M2700 appliances via USB is not supported.
