Studio Host Profile Configuration Payload

A Studio host profile configuration payload sends a host profile to the Studio Client installed on an iOS device. You can send multiple payloads of this type to each device.

Deploying a Studio host profile configuration payload prevents users from manually creating host profiles from the device. After a device retrieves the configuration, the Add Profile button is disabled in Studio and any user-created host profiles on the device are removed. Users can still modify payload-deployed profiles or scan QR codes for new configurations. To prevent users from editing received host profiles, set an Advanced Password through the Studio Client Settings Payload.

A Studio host profile configuration payload has the following options:

Payload name

The name of the host profile.

Host name

The IP address or host name of the server to which the smart device will connect.

Port

The TCP port number on which the host system is listening for emulation requests from Clients. By default, the port is set to 2400.

Use SSL Connection

Enables SSL communication between a device and host profile. If a certificate is not associated with the profile, then selecting this option does nothing.

SSL Certificate

Associates an SSL certificate with a host profile. The drop-down list identifies all Studio SSL Certificate payloads created in Avalanche. To create an SSL certificate, see Studio SSL Certificate Payload.

Default Auto-Connect Host

Defines whether the Client should automatically connect to the host each time Studio is launched on a smart device.

To apply the settings on devices, add the payload to an application configuration profile and apply the profile to a folder. For more information, see Application Configuration Payloads. Once you perform a deployment, enrolled devices assigned to that folder receive the settings the next time they check in. If a smart device is unmanaged through Avalanche, print the QR code associated with the folder and scan it with the device to configure the Client. For information on printing the QR code associated with a folder, see Configuring Software on Unenrolled Smart Devices.
